What is learning role’s in preparing companies to face the future? In this session, learn how one company is leaning on L&D to deliver them to an urgent digital future. The speed of change is only getting faster. Consider that as recent as five years ago, it would have been inconceivable to have devoted social media staff. Now, for most companies, it’s a required department. Such is the speed of transformation now.

So how you can know what workforce skills to train for now, based on your future needs two to three years out? Artificial Intelligence, blockchain, data science, mobile payments and digitization are breathing down every company’s neck. Should you reskill your workforce? Cross-train employees across departments? Teach meta-skills to aid employees as they acquire digital skills in external bootcamps or MOOCs? Listen to this case study and discover how far one company would go to retrain its workforce for the future.

HR and Learning leaders are increasingly relied upon to align workforce strategies with business objectives. One primary method for accomplishing this goal is surveying employees to discover gaps in competencies, whether among individual employees or specific teams. Our panel members, will draw upon their business-case experience with surveying their workforce to uncover strengths and weaknesses among their workforce skills. HR records, focus groups, interviews, on-the-job observations and assessments are all tools in the learning officer’s toolbox but not all are appropriate, depending on the situation. Learn how to identify business needs, perform a gap analysis, assess training plans and costs in this practical panel.

Andy Kozak, Manager, College of Technical Operations at JetBlue University, JetBlue
Until recently, only pilots and NFL players took advantage of the immersive powers of virtual reality training. As the technology has become widely available, retailers, call centers, manufacturers and other lines of business can now harness virtual reality to create learning experiences that stick. VR training immerses employees in a lifelike workplace experience that can be repeated dozens or even hundreds of times. The result is an employee whose learning isn’t just a tick mark on the compliance sheet but a deeply transformative experience that truly prepares them for customer interactions In the retail space, OR the demanding service call or challenging equipment on the factory floor. To truly tap virtual reality’s capacity for learning, get acquainted with scripting, storytelling, mood-setting and the many “if-then” scenarios that come with partnering with a VR provider to build a real-life virtual reality setting.
